Marlette DDA Selects Kevin Burdick of Scrapes Designs for Michigan Agricultural Commodities Mural Project

Marlette, MI – March 19, 2026– The Marlette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is excited to announce the selection of Kevin Burdick of Scrapes Designs, based in Flint, Michigan, as the artist for the Michigan Agricultural Commodities (MAC) mural project.

Kevin was chosen from a competitive pool of six submissions. After careful review, the DDA unanimously voted to hire Kevin to create a photo-realistic mural that celebrates the agricultural heritage of the region while reflecting the unique character and spirit of the Thumb area.

The mural will be installed on the exterior of the MAC facility along M-53 in Marlette and is expected to be completed this summer. This public art project aligns with the DDA’s ongoing mission to enhance the downtown area and showcase the community’s agricultural roots through engaging and inspiring visual art.

“Kevin’s proposal stood out for its creativity, attention to detail, and ability to capture both the agricultural theme and the heart of the Thumb region,” said Christine Malzahn, Marlette City Manager. “We are thrilled to bring his vision to life and look forward to sharing this remarkable piece with the Marlette community and visitors alike.”
